Genotype

The genetic makeup of an organism. The actual appearance of an individual (the phenotype) depends on the interaction between different forms (or alleles) of genes and between the genotype and the environment.

The genetic constitution of an organism, as distinguished from its physical appearance (its phenotype). The designation of two alleles at a particular locus is a genotype.
