Marble

Conspicuously white, or gray, medium- to coarse-grained, massive to layered metamorphic rock composed of calcite and/or dolomite. It is a metamorphosed limestone and underlies several major valleys in the Western Uplands of Connecticut. Marble is quarried for use as agricultural lime and for industrial uses.
