Tourmaline

A mineral of a complex silicate group that contains boron and is crystallographically rhombohedral. They occur in striated columnar crystals in many different colors. They may be found in acid–igneous rocks and veins. The birefringence of the minerals of the tourmaline group is about 0.020.
