The vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) is the reflex movement of the eyes in the direction opposite to that in which the head is moved; it allows you to maintain a fixed gaze on an object while your head is moving. Nerve signals that cause the reflex originate in the vestibular organs of the inner ear.
